PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas- Four turnovers in the second half as well as a lack of overall offensive production played critical roles in the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions loss to the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Saturday afternoon.
UAPB went into halftime trailing the Panthers 28-17 after Prairie View scored on its final possession of the second half marching down the field using a combination of short passes and timely runs.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff freshman wide receiver Ladarius Eckwood and quarterback Josh Boudreaux scored the Golden Lions two touchdown of the half as Eckwood caught a 56-yard TD pass from Boudreaux. Boudreaux later found his way into the end zone on a one yard touchdown run at the goal line.
The second half brought a reversal of fortunes for Arkansas-Pine Bluff as they struggled to gain any type of rhythm offensively. The Golden Lions defense also was unable to slow down the Panthers offensive attack as the Panthers took their largest lead of the contest at 49-17 after a 31-yard Shaun Stephens touchdown reception from K.J. Black.
For the game UAPB tallied 296 total yards (73 R, 223 P) while Prairie View amassed 596 yards (255 R, 341 P). The Golden Lions will conclude their season this Saturday, Nov. 28 with a SWAC West match-up versus the Texas Southern Tigers.
