JONESBORO, Ark.- The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions put up a valiant effort in a 72-58 loss to Arkansas State on Wednesday night. UAPB led the contest at the half 28-25 behind an outstanding defensive effort and the inside point production of Shay Holmes.
Arkansas State benefited from foul calls in second half as they went to the charity stripe a total of 27 times during the half connecting on 19 of their free throw attempts. Overall UAPB shot 35 percent from the field for the game while limiting ASU to just a 28 percent from the floor shooting night.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Jasmine Abrams chipped in 13 points off the bench as she went 6-of-17 from the field to go along with 11 rebounds. Holmes finished the game with 16 points and 5 rebounds.
The Lady Lions will face Mississippi on Nov. 20 in Oxford before traveling to Lubbock, Texas to play Texas Tech on Nov. 22.
