PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 23)  - The University of Arkansas Pine Softball Team dropped a 9-4 decision to Southern Arkansas University, here Wednesday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.

UAPB (7-31) finished the contest with six hits with Kelsey Ridgeway going two-for-three from the plate to lead the Lady Lions.

SAU (29-22) recorded game high 12 hits with Audrey Farfan going four-for-five from the plate to lead the Mule Riders.

Shelby Miller picked up the win for SAU as she pitched four innings, allowing one hit and striking out six, while Alexsis McCain received the loss as she pitched four innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs and striking out three.
 
SAU grabbed the early 7-0 lead after three and one-half innings of play as the Mule Riders scored two runs in the top of the first inning, four runs in the top of the third inning and one run in the top of the fourth inning.
The Lady Lions got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with Tiressa Jacobs scoring on a single to right field and then scoring on an outfielder throwing error, cutting SAU's lead to 7-1.
 
UAPB cut SAU's lead to 7-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning with a Paige Garcia two-run blast, followed by a Jasmine Hardwrick single scoring Ridgeway.
SAU added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning for the 9-4 finale.
