GREENVILLE, Miss. -- The UAPB golf team topped a 6-team field at the Fall River City Golf Classic, hosted by Mississippi Valley State University. The Golden Lions combined to shoot a 36-hole best 624 (308-316) to win the tournament. UAPB finished five shots ahead of second place Prairie View A&M who completed the course with a team score of 629 (317-312).

Alabama A&M finished seven strokes back at 631 (317-314), while Alcorn State was fourth (634, 314-320), Lemoyne-Owen fifth (726, 370-356) and Mississippi Valley sixth (802, 401-401).

Both Jeff Chitando and Nqobandi Ndbambi shot 146 to tie for second overall individually. Chitando had a 72 in the first round, then followed with a 74 on day two, while Ndbambi did the reverse, 74-72. Elliott Rollins was 11th with a 158 (77-71), while Matthew Dismuke rounded out the foursom in 17th with a score of 174 (85-89).

The Golden Lions will return to the course Oct. 6-8 for the Alcorn State tournament, which will be held at the Beau Pre Country Club in Natchez, Miss.
