Pine Bluff, Ark. - Under clear skies and perfect golfing conditions, the beautiful Harbor Oaks Golf Club played host to the Monte Coleman Celebrity Golf Tournament. The golf tournament is designed as fundraiser for the football team.

Registration for the women's flight opened at 7:45 am, with a shotgun start promptly at 9 am. This year's women's flight was title the "Ethel Davis Women's Flight" in honor of the late Mrs. Ethel Davis, the wife of former chancellor Lawrence A. Davis. Mrs. Davis was an avid golfer and was known to participate on a yearly basis. Although Mrs. Davis wasn't on the course physically, her presence was felt spiritually as she was honored with a 21-ball salute just before the shotgun start of the men's flight.

The three member of Ida Emerson, Earnestine Trotter and Shirley Scott won the women's flight by shooting a 66.

The men's flight got under way with a 1pm shotgun start after the 21- ball salute for the late Mrs. Davis. With the tourney concluding around 6pm, the four man team of Tim Bias, Mike Hail, Gene White and Michah Cotrell won the 20-plus team men's flight with shooting a 55.

"The golf god's blessed us with a great day for golf. With the 21-ball salute for Mrs. Davis and two great flights, today was great day for fundraising and an enjoyable tournament", said head football coach Monte Coleman.
