Pine Bluff, Ark- On Tuesday, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions hosted the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions in double header softball action at the Torri Hunter Softball Complex.
SLU was able to get out on the Lady Lions early in the first game. The Lions scored runs in the first and second innings for a quick 7-0 lead. UAPB was able to chip away at the SLU lead in the third inning.
Patrice Brown, who drew a walk to start the inning off, came around to score when Tiressa Jacobs singled through the left side of the infield. Delya Jackson and
Heather Leigh also crossed home plate bringing the score after three innings of play 7-3.
Both teams would add a run to its total in the fifth. UAPB's came when Jacobs would double to right field to bring in Leigh who had singled earlier.
SLU scored again in the sixth and seventh innings to bring the game to its final score 10-4.
Jacobs and Leigh had the hot bats for the Lady Lions in game one. Jacobs was 3-for-3 with two RBI's; while Leigh went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
For the second half of the double dip, Southeastern took a lead in the first inning and didn't look back as took game two by a score of 11-3.
The Lady Lions scored their runs in the fifth inning, in rally fashion, hoping to stage a comeback. Jasmine Hardwick hit a two run homerun that scored Jordan Foyer, who reached on an error by the SLU shortstop. Delya Jackson came around on a Kelsey Ridgeway single for the Lady Lions third run.
The Lady Lions take their show on the road as they travel to Grambling State University, for SWAC western division weekend series against the Lady Tigers.
